Parisian designers Catherine Lévy and Sigolène Prébois of Tsé & Tsé Associées take a simple approach to design: “We design things that we ourselves want to use,” says Lévy. “First we live with it, and if after that we don't like it, we don't produce it.” But there's nothing simplistic about their work. The Hungry Tableware Collection, which includes bowls, cups and salad forks, has asymmetrical shapes and a cheeky character that will surely inspire engaging dinner parties and garden gatherings. They first tried to have the pieces manufactured in Limoges only to be deterred producing a non-round bowl was too absurd for the established manufacturers. Now handmade, the sophisticated yet fun bowls and teacups really glam it up with gold or platinum enamel. The international success that the duo enjoys hasn't changed their D.I.Y. attitude, though: “When we look at where we are and think that we have managed to make a living doing what we love,” says Lévy, “we still think it's a miracle.”
