The wrist strap echoes a mast and is the visual and functional focal point in the design and closure. Propelled by billowing white sails, feluccas have been a primary mode of transportation on Egypt’s Nile River since the time of the Pharaohs. But while other tourists saw traditional wooden sail boats, Hester saw a graceful form and elegant silhouette that could be echoed in a bag.
