Tablecloth 1340 G | damask set Christien Meindertsma

Description:
Designer Christien Meindertsma (1980) is fascinated by research into the origin of products, raw materials and the history and technology behind it. For her project FLOCKS she committed herself to knit to see how much sweaters she could make from the wool of a sheep. The sheep that produced the wool was honored by her with a passport and photograph, a duplicate of the ear tag and a rosette with ribbons. For her project PIG 05049, she studied the products which are made from a pig. She discovered strange things such as heart valves, brakes, chewing gum and cigarettes. Meanwhile she build her own label FLOCKS and she focuses mainly on designing knitwear apparel and interior products. Commissioned by the Textile Museum, she designed the 1340 G tablecloth especially for the 50th anniversary of the museum. In the middle of the tablecloth are shown the plants that supplied the material for the tablecloth such as flax, cotton plants, seaweed, banana and bamboo. On the napkins and on the short side of the tablecloth are the names of the plants woven including their country of origin. Each tablecloth comes in a lovely gift box.
